The natural beauty of plum blossoms in the early spring inspired the original etching done on 100% rag paper which was torn to create a soft outline, then fused with a clear beeswax resin (encaustic) to a narrow acrylic plate. Multicultural and multinational, I was born and educated in the US of an ethnically diverse background, and have lived in various corners of the world most of my adult life. This international exposure has contributed to a universality in scope. I find my greatest source of inspiration in Nature, her gifts as well as her mysteries. Working in both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works, I explore the many forms in which the life-force manifests itself. The visual interplay between light and dark, and fine detail countered with empty space express the yin and the yang of our reality for me. Dream visions often guide me in my attempt to bring the diverse elements of our universe, dark and light, biological and spiritual, physical and metaphysical, together, creating New Beginnings in a cosmic sense. As the quiet places become ever more crowded with the noise and clutter of contemporary life, my focus is on the microcosm and the beauty hidden in the molecular structure of all living things. Working in various media, I strive to provide a quiet space in this all too busy world; a moment of serenity in which to suspend time and the almost frantic pace of contemporary life. I now live in the Zuni Mountains, growing food, studying the wild life and creating art in my Coyote Ridge Studio.
