About The Artwork

This piece is a digitally edited monoprint which has been digitally printed. Through the digital editing process I am able to emphasise the textural quality of the relief ink, increase the scale and accentuate the colours. The work is sandwiched between two pieces of perspex, with spilt batons on the reverse so it is easily attachable to the wall. Additionally, the split batons are positioned in all four directions on the reverse, so that the viewer has autonomy in the direction it is hung. This piece of work is inspired and a reflection of the combination of my surroundings and environments, as I equally split my time between the English rural countryside and the geometric cityscape of London. I work with contrasts in line, colour and form. A sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

I am a 26-year-old artist who has recently completed MA Fine Art Printmaking at Camberwell college of arts, part of the University of the Arts London. I am now starting to forge my career as an artist in London. My practice is formed by the essential dialogue between line, form and colour. Harmony is generated from the balance of different vibrations and tensions amongst these three elements. The dialogue echoes the variety of interpretations I produce from my surrounding environment. From the colour combinations of the physical environment to my thoughts and feelings when producing the work, there is no prescribed, set way I construct my work. I work intuitively with line, form and colour, allowing my visual influences in my conscious and subconscious mind to affect my aesthetic choices and the work I produce.
