Original and unique screen-print on heavy weight lithography paper, limited series of 11. I wanted to continue screen-printing my 'masks' in cosmetic colours, such as lipstick for this series. I much prefer working on a larger scale as I think this brings out the attacking image I aim to achieve. I source all of my 'mask' images from adverts in fashion magazines and want to translate their powerful aesthetic into my own practice. Lithography paper has a slight sheen to them, which I chose to print on to reflect the shiny, glossy pages of a magazine.

I have been intrigued by powerful and strong images of women in fashion magazines and their qualities of allure and desirability since I found my mothers old modelling photos - their symmetrical, striking faces can have quite a hypnotic influence and effect on the viewer. My work has investigated the perceived negative and harmful side to the fashion and media industry as well as the hardship of being a woman within it. While at the same time being drawn to expressing and celebrating their empowerment and beauty.
