Guido Lipken is a German born, Wuppertal based artist who works with mixed technics and oil paint to create large scale oil paintings as well as etchings in small editions. Having graduated at the university of applied science (Trier/Germany), he also studied in the class of Prof. Erich Krämer at the "˜European academy of fine art', (Trier/Germany) and in the class of Prof. Manolo Gatel at the Universidad Politecnica (Madrid/Spain) - both as a scholarship holder. He exhibits since 1995 in various well-known galleries and cultural institutions like the "˜Zeche Carl', Essen (Route Industriekultur) and the gallery of the "˜Deutsche Bank' Lipken is interested in visually expressing characters in specific situations and explicit moments. They invite us to have a selfreflecting moment. Using the "˜Roaring Aera' as a background, his fictive portraits gives us a deep interpretational space of human personalities. Mimic and bodylanguage in a stage-reminding atmosphere shows that our emotions and feelings in it's base never change. Beside all new technical and new media influences these human characteristics "˜were' and "˜are' a solid attribute of life at all times.
