There is something very special about walking in woodlands when the bluebells are out. This work is a reduction linocut and is one of a small edition of 8 prints. It is a very large piece, the printed area is 60 x 40cm, a real statement for your wall. A reduction lino print is formed with several layers of colour which are cut and printed from the same block of lino. I print all of my work by hand, in very limited editions. Small variations do occur between them but this just serves to make each individual print truly original. This work is printed with water-based, light-fast inks on Somerset Satin paper and has a beautiful matt finish. It is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom.

I enjoy woodland walks and countryside views, marvelling at the constant changes in light, weather and season. I translate my scenic discoveries into linocuts. I favour the 'reduction’ process, which involves cutting and printing each layer of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image. Mistakes cannot be rectified and the block is destroyed in the process. All prints must be created at once as there is no going back to an earlier cut of the block. As a teenager I visited a lot of art galleries on school trips. The impressionist and post-impressionist paintings were always my favourite. I greatly admired the use and application of colour. The paintings I viewed then made a huge impact on me and those experiences still influence my artistic style today. In 2011 and 2012 I was delighted to have my work selected for to Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and in 2014 I had linocuts chosen for the Society of Women Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
