This print is from a series of 25 prints based on the same set of characters (feline, canine, mythological, and human) with digital static shadows. The prints are printed by hand, one layer at a time, with acrylic ink on paper. What the prisoners see and hear are shadows and echoes cast by objects that they do not see. The cave refers to both Plato and Herzog, the conceptual and the literal.

Watch a 60 second video of me making a screenprint @ Drawing is the foundation of my art making, expanding into prints and animation. I am increasingly interested in symbols and icons and their capacity to hold complex sets of ideas as meaning gets attached to them. I think of my images as 'narrative instances' composed of figures that revolve around solitude, conflict, and confrontation.
