A recent visit to an Arab church in Palermo Sicily with its incredible red dome against a blue sky centuries old. " what might have been" quote from TS Eliot. I decided to make a series of monotype prints to capture the mood and the place on that day and this one is 4 o 4. I have also painted this scene with the same title in oils on reversed linen.

Mania, an artist and adult art educator holding an MA in Museology from UCL, boasts a rich career spanning over five decades. With a passion for nurturing artistic expression, she has been instrumental in shaping the creative journeys of countless adult individuals since 2006, delivering engaging classes in Art Appreciation and Drawing & Painting across Croydon and Bromley. Her classes consistently draw full enrolment, a testament to her dynamic teaching approach and ability to inspire. Before her tenure as an educator, Mania held leadership roles as Head of Art & Design in prestigious secondary schools throughout London and Kent. Her dedication to art extends beyond the classroom, as evidenced by her participation in renowned exhibitions such as the Seaside Gallery USA Miniature Show 2012 and the Abstract Expressionist show at MOMA in New York in 2018. Each year, Mania invites the public to her Montsale Studio Open Day, an opportunity to witness her artistic process first hand. This year marks a significant milestone as she celebrates 50 years of painting and teaching with a solo art show scheduled from August 12th to 18th 2024, at 54 The Gallery in Mayfair. Mania's artistic vision is characterised by a profound exploration of nature and memory, captured with luminous strokes of paint on linen or through monotype water-based "prints" on paper. From the tranquil depths of the sea to the vibrant hues of Monet's Garden in Giverny, her works evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia. Each piece is a testament to her originality, featuring unique colour palettes and limited editions that reflect her ongoing evolution as an artist. Inspired by the ebb and flow of life, Mania's creations encapsulate the essence of the present moment, capturing fleeting impressions with timeless grace. Through her art, she invites viewers to embark on a journey of introspection, where memories intertwine with imagination, and the beauty of existence is revealed in every brushstroke.
