Rhythm of Life Print - Limited Edition of 12

My current body of work “Mentor” is inspired by one of ancient Chinese poet Su Shi’s poems Written on the Wall at West Forest Temple. I view the impact that a mentor has his/ her student as Su Shi’s view on mount Lu-Shan: “Why can’t I tell the true shape of Lu-Shan? Because I myself am in the mountain.” The Chinese word character of “reason” explains people encounter each other’s life for specific purposes. While we are being trained under our mentors, we often neglect to value the process, because we are in the midst of it. Lacking understanding as we do, we attempt to depreciate or question the mentor. As we are removed from the process and examine its fruits through time and space, the is beyond our expectation. I am fascinated by the gradual transitional process of a single mentor’s impact on his /her student, and, the eventual revelation) of the relationship’s purpose.
