Title : 'Round Up' Paper size: 43 x 34cm Image size - 27 x 22cm A seventeen colour, (all mixed and applied by hand), original screenprint on finest quality Fabriano Rosapina 100% cotton paper (285gsm). Numbered, signed, titled and dated in pencil at the bottom . Edition of 40 . sold unframed All my prints are created entirely by hand, from the initial drawings, mixing of the inks, to the actual pulling of the ink across the silk screen onto finest quality paper. Every edition is very small, so you are buying something unique and of the highest quality, lasting a lifetime. (hopefully increasing in value too!) This is different to 'Limited edition giclee' prints which are reproductions (inkjet prints from a computer) and not originals. This print has a textured appearance rather than a solid hard edge. I wanted to create a printed 'drawing'. I love to print on handmade Italian Fabriano paper as the inks sit beautifully on it. It is lovely and thick with a slight texture and deckles to two edges. Shown here with 'House II' which was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art, just a handful left for sale, which can be bought separately. Emma Lawrenson is a British printmaker. She lives and works from her farmhouse studio in the Yorkshire countryside. After studying for an M.A in printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London, Emma describes it as an experience that has shaped her life ever since. She has gone on to exhibit and sell her work all over the world. The techniques and formal qualities of printmaking have always fascinated Emma, and her work is an engagement with the process, where she is passionate about craftsmanship. ‘The process of screen printing and the time it takes to build up a final image is what holds the beauty of a piece; it’s a fundamental part of its soul. My prints may look ‘designed’, but are often rather intuitively and organically made. It’s a nice way to work, capturing a moment; a feeling I have at the time and just going with it.’ Emma’s work ultimately emerges by intuition, her style is minimal and peaceful, and she is passionate about colour, which is always very carefully considered. She loves walking, photography and travel; where anything from the smallest shape, shadow, pattern, texture or colour can trigger an idea. ‘I strive to create something beautiful and understated in my work, and I have always been drawn to work that feels calm’. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her work has appeared in many magazines including ‘Vogue’, ‘House and Gardens’, ‘Art Review’, ‘Country Living’, ’25 Beautiful Homes’ amongst others. She has even had work on film and television sets in America with Universal Studios.
