After many years of making art in the Boston area, I relocated to West Palm Beach in 2018. Now based here full-time, my printmaking and painting are largely inspired by (and sourced from) the ocean and the vibrant local colors found here in the Sunshine State. These chromatic takes on simple universal elements extend a nod to the art of play, wonder... and, leisure. For the past few years, I've also been following my imagination with the 26 letter nautical code alphabet, creating some contemporary twists on extraordinary diamond polished acrylic blocks, and on sanded bamboo. These works have led me to collaborate with a with a number of premiere interior designers such as Amanda Nisbet, Kristin Paton, and Keller Donovan, for commission and other private installations. My SPIN collection is an overture... a fine art series of visual prompts inviting the viewer to still the moment, step away from today's swirling existence, and connect back to a single point of focus. Simply designed, the collection welcomes wonder and a slow reveal. SPIN was created employing the vibrant colorscape here in southern Florida as captured through photographic images. This collection takes its cue from the likes of Kenneth Noland, Poul Gernes, Robert Indiana and so many of the other master color field painters who paved our way. My purpose with this series is to offer an uncomplicated, polychromatic anchor in which to breathe, reconnect with stillness and disable the incline to unriddle. I invite you to wander in... All of the works in this series are available as unframed 24x24 and 30x30 vibrant fine art metallic prints (with 1" paper margin), or as finished 15x15 perfect square 1" thick diamond polished acrylic blocks. The finished blocks ship ready to invisibly float off the wall with

susan currie is a west palm beach based visual artist who integrates vibrant color with timeless geometric elements in her printmaking and painting — her photographs often serving as prompts for creative exploration. susan's chromatic takes on simple universal elements extend a nod to the art of play and to the wonder of childhood, a subject she faithfully focused on for over two decades in her portrait photography. in addition to these endeavors, susan serves as a corporator for the griffin museum of photography in winchester, massachusetts, as a adjunct faculty member of the palm beach photographic centre in west palm beach. susan met her muse when she discovered the practice of yoga (and became an RYT 200 instructor) some time ago. this ancient eight-limbed practice continues to inform her artistry and her life on a number of levels. through the creative workshops she leads throughout the country, she shares her signature approach to slow shooting and incorporating mindfulness into the artistic practice. susan is the creator of CHARMCODES and also the author of ONCE DIVIDED, GRACENOTES, and breathtaking.
