I was born and raised in London but moved to Bristol a few years ago. Since arriving I have taken advantage of the wonderful printmaking facilities we have here in the city.My background is in commercial art and design so I made a conscious decision to have fun with my prints, what I really wanted was to create abstract images that just 'felt right' to me, that had energy and spontaneity and crucially that I found exciting to the eye. The process I have developed is largely inspired by sessions of figure drawing where the poses are very short. I work quickly and gesturally in ink and find the dynamism of the mark making and brushstrokes very visually exciting. In my prints I take these marks and strokes and use them to create pared-back abstract compositions in muted colours.
