ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My love of Cornwall was always there, my family name, Tonkin is from St Ives Cornwall and my second name, Tremayne is also a Cornish name. I went out for a rowing boat trip with some friends and with some artistic licence, I imagined the sea being much more rough and the sky very stormy, but It’s otherwise from my experience and from several sketches I made with my mates. I think it works, it has an ageless quality to it, it though the boat is modern, it could have been made 150 years ago or more.
