About The Artwork

No crown jewels were harmed during the production of this print;o)) WHAT IS A LINOCUT?: linocuts assembled creates a fresh contemporary feel to this handprinted linocut, I have cut out the fish shape and the swimmer, and ink all the parts up separately and them lay them out on my press and put the printmaking paper on top to print them all together using a range of lovely dark blues. SIZE: I printed "The Danger of being Male" on a piece of lovely crisp white printmaking paper, the actual image is 20" x 14" (50cm x 35 cm) and the paper is 24.5" x 17" (62 cm x 42 cm) EDITION: I have signed, titled and numbered the print, that comes in an edition of 30 prints. Please be aware I can't guarantee you receive the number in the photo. SHIPPING: Your linocut is with many years experience in packing my art so it arrives safely. Thanks for visiting, Mariann

Almost 20 years a full time printmaker and I am as much in love as the day I pulled my first print! My presses have moved with me, from Borneo to Singapore, from Singapore to Spain, and now on to Denmark, where I have set up my studio and gallery. I am self taught, a book, a way to thick copper plate and a gallon drum of nitric acid, making every mistake you could, and learning, learning as I went along. I started with etchings and added linocut when we moved to Singapore. Here I also taught printmaking at Singapore Tyler Print Institue, picking up and learning from the master printmakers there. I never want to be too "old" to learn, to challenge myself, to do better! My inspiration comes from a variety of sources, I have no single line of work, but prefer to make images as they come into my head, through books, I love to read, through radio, music and a huge part, from my daily dogwalks, that not only provide inspiration from nature but also moments of contemplation that results in many of my prints! All my prints are printed on best quality printmaking papers (favorites are Magnani, Fabriano, and Hahnemuelhe) with Charbonnel etching inks.
