About The Artwork

Limited Edition Giclee paper print. Dimensions shown are image size, not inclusive of 2.5 inch white border. Proofed, signed and numbered by the artist, with certificate of authenticity. In the background of this piece is the Fibonacci Spiral, discovered by the 13th century Italian mathematician of the same name. It is created by graphing a curve through interconnected rectangles which grow at a ratio of adding the two preceding numbers together (1 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 8, etc). It creates a shape that is found in the growth patterns of many natural objects, and as a result has been used by artists since the Renaissance when creating visually pleasing compositions. I use it often as an invisible framework for my art. When I was playing with the spiral on top of this image, I became inspired to include it as an additional element, as a symbol of the natural growth and evolution of life. The swans represent strength, inner grace and beauty, and are perhaps poised to carry her off. They surround and protect the innocence of this young girl – as does the umbrella – on her journey in that evolution.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
