ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I made two drawings of 8.75 feet each in 2014 for my graduation project, while I was pregnant with my first child. The one printed here is Origin 1 and represents a vulva in the middle of a landscape that suggests bark and a more sensual texture upwards. The drawing was placed beside the one that represented an apple cut in half, to express the similarities between the human being and nature. Then I printed this image 6 times and interpreted it differently each time. Here, I illustrate the lightness and femininity in a naive way and I surrounded the tree-vulva to protect this state of mind.

I was born in Saint-Camille-de-Lellis, grew up in Saint-Anselme with my mother and I went back to spend my adolescence with my father. I live and work in Saint-George-de-Beauce since July 2019. I am involved as president of the association Artists and Craftsmen of Beauce to bring together the visual creators of the region and help each other in the development of our artistic approach. In my production, I explore the similarities between the human being and nature to create a new vision of what unites us. It is through the exploration of my personal iconographic field that I approach drawing, painting, false stained glass, embroidery, serigraphy and sculpture, by a falsely naive poetic surrealist approach. My process of creation follows from a transformation of my moods by the transfer that I make in the subject, work which is then taken up in an interdisciplinary way. Subsequently, the elements that represent nature and the sacred feminine are for me symbols of healing that I transpose on a larger scale when the works do not speak of my personal story.
