In this series of monotypes Patricia Bigarelli used powdered pigments and sea water from the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Through research and use of new materials, such as sea water, the artist seeks not only to explore the possibilities of colors and pigments, but also to awaken the observer's sensitivity to rhythm, harmony and changes in the works according to their exposure to light. In addition to what is seen, in the monotypes, the artist induces the observer to go on revealing what is only suggested. “The biggest secret of working with color is to respect it” - Following this precept, the Patricia says that the creation of the monotypes involves progressive overlays of textures and layers of colors, which she performs during a process of meditation and search for inner peace.
