About The Artwork

ORIGINAL PRINTMAKING: This original print is taken from a series of collages based on the landscape. With my signature textures and chalky inks this works well on it's own or with other from the series. Title: 'Weave’ Paper size: 40 x 50 cm Image size : 28 x 36.5cm A handmade silkscreen print in eighteen colours on finest quality Fabriano Rosaspina. All mixed and applied by hand separately, Lots of hours of work! Two edges have a deckle with looks great when framed. The inks work beautifully on such lovely heavyweight paper, they create a sumptuous quality, nothing like a poster...and looks much nicer in real life! I love to create modern pieces using traditional techniques at a slower pace and with many hours of practice learnt over the years in my studio and at The Royal College of Art. Numbered, signed, titled and dated in pencil at the bottom . edition of 10 . sold unframed.

Emma Lawrenson is a British printmaker. She lives and works from her farmhouse studio in the Yorkshire countryside. After studying for an M.A in printmaking at the Royal College of Art in London, Emma describes it as an experience that has shaped her life ever since. She has gone on to exhibit and sell her work all over the world. The techniques and formal qualities of printmaking have always fascinated Emma, and her work is an engagement with the process, where she is passionate about craftsmanship. ‘The process of screen printing and the time it takes to build up a final image is what holds the beauty of a piece; it’s a fundamental part of its soul. My prints may look ‘designed’, but are often rather intuitively and organically made. It’s a nice way to work, capturing a moment; a feeling I have at the time and just going with it.’ Emma’s work ultimately emerges by intuition, her style is minimal and peaceful, and she is passionate about colour, which is always very carefully considered. She loves walking, photography and travel; where anything from the smallest shape, shadow, pattern, texture or colour can trigger an idea. ‘I strive to create something beautiful and understated in my work, and I have always been drawn to work that feels calm’. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her work has appeared in many magazines including ‘Vogue’, ‘House and Gardens’, ‘Art Review’, ‘Country Living’, ’25 Beautiful Homes’ amongst others. She has even had work on film and television sets in America with Universal Studios.
