On the Exhibition "Windows" by Dr. Miroslav D. Drljača WINDOW AS A VISUAL METAPHOR "Windows," an exhibition of prints by Hazer Emrić The window, as a symbol of the threshold between worlds, serves as a visual metaphor for looking beyond the physical world into spiritual realms, emotional, or psychological areas. Viewed through the history of art, the window is a place from which the outside is observed from the inside, the unknown from the known, often the uncertain from the secure, and the illusionistic from the real. A childhood memory of looking through a household window becomes for Emrić a rule for framing scenes encountered in different circumstances. The more landscapes he saw and experienced, the more he returned in his artistic expression to the motifs that his childhood eyes perceived through the window of his family home. Time has preserved the most important elements. Thus, within the window frame, in a complementary relationship, the forms of an associative landscape are presented in a simplified manner. As in childhood, so too in the graphic prints, the landscape on the other side of the window becomes a mystery and a reason for exploration. The charming and seductive blue lace curtain, in its struggle to assert itself, retains the intrusion into the outer space. Between the exterior and the interior stands Emrić, with a dilemma from which, we believe, new perspectives on these two worlds will emerge. Banja Luka, March 24, 2023
