Naturselbstdruck, a term coined by Alois Auer in the early 1800’s describes the process of making a direct image from natural objects. This method gives an accurate & detailed impression and was used to document botanical specimens. Using this tradition as a springboard I have created my own versions of site-specific botanical imagery. I aim to capture the tangled and wild aspect of nature as well as the fine details of the specimens. The works are accented with inclusions of collaged letterpress poetry texts, vintage image blocks and other paper ephemera reminiscent of the outdoors.
