This engraving is a reflection of my deep fascination with the swans of Lake Zurich. Swans here embody a duality: fierce yet graceful, powerful yet tender, pure and immaculate in their presence. Creating them in real life, directly observing their movements and character, allows me to translate thi...

Makar Fabrika (Fab) is a visual and sound artist working across paintings, installation, projection, design, sound, and spatial practices. Fab study BA Fine Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and received an education in motion design and academic classical art at the Stroganov College of Design and Decorative Arts in Moscow, where the diploma project focused on 3D-mapping and projection for historical architecture. With a classical art background providing a technical foundation, Fab’s contemporary practice engages themes of personal transformation, belonging, sorrow, and renewal, examining how inner emotional states relate to broader social, cultural, and historical forces. A central concern of the work is mediation: Fab explores processes of change and migration not only as individual experiences, but as universal conditions, collecting personal narratives and recontextualizing them through new perspectives. Fab’s work often unfolds in dialogue with historical sites, museums, and public spaces, combining visual research, soundscapes, and digital technologies to reflect on memory, perception, and cultural continuity. Working across video, installation, projection, sound, and curatorial formats, the practice follows material and emotional histories in an analytical yet poetic way. Fab has participated in exhibitions, festivals, and institutional projects in Switzerland and Russia, including projects with ZHdK, GES-2 House of Culture (V-A-C Foundation), and interdisciplinary art and music festivals, alongside curatorial and mediation-based initiatives.
