I studied Fine Art at De Montfort University part time whilst my children were young and graduated 6 years later, we live in the small village of Evenley, Oxfordshire with my husband who is a graphic designer. We have three daughters. Wendy's work explores themes of family and home, and concepts of memory and moment. She works in a variety of materials, currently mainly in cast aluminium and bronze, but also in silver, acrylic, paper and wire. Each body of work frequently consists of multiple pieces in a range of materials.  In the current series, works are cast mostly in bronze, and depict representations of individuals and relationships, such as mother and child, a pair of lovers or a family. Figures are initially carved in wax, and then the lost wax process is used to create finished pieces in aluminium. Wendy experiments with the surface texture of both metals through techniques such as patination, painting and plating, and enjoys mixing contemporary methods with more traditional ways of working. Her pieces are at once highly textured and serene. "Sculpting", she says, “fills me with a sense of accomplishment, worth and integrity”.
