3-Rings Sculpture

Inspired by a circus themed art show. Circles are 1/4" thick, oxy-acetylene cut from flat bar, heat bent around a mandrel and seam welded. Welds were ground as to give the illusion of being cut from seamless pipe. They are joined with bronze braze and are finished bright, sealed with polyurethane. Meant for indoor display, it can be left outdoors but water will find it's way to the metal and it will rust if desired. Stone is iron rich ore, sealed in spar-urethane for a dark and shiny texture. Metal is mounted to the stone as follows: Stone is 1" through drilled. A "J" hook, welded to the bottom of the escutcheon plate, protrudes into it and hydraulic cement seals and holds all. Steel epoxy was applied to the underside of the escutcheon plate. A tap with your knuckle sets the steel to ringing. Its a solid bond.
