«ALCHEMICAL TABLES» Astian Rey 2021 112х105х6сm Wood (24 kg) Artwork was created under the inspiration of the medieval sacred art of alchemy and mysticism. Artwork is a diptych consisting of two oak planks. With the help of woodcarving, Gothic letters are carved on them in random order, having a recess. The work is tinted with various varnishes and wood impregnation.

ASTIAN REY Born in 1987 in Kiev, Ukraine. Astian Rey is the founder of his own direction of art - “Sacred Brutalism”. In his work he explores themes of religion, mysticism and the occult, as well as their role in the development of humanity. Astian is known for his interdisciplinary approach to art, including sculpture, installation, literature and musical-performative experiments. He is the author of the Codex Reptilius project, which is an artificially created mystical cult with its own book, sacred objects and music album. The works are in private and public collections in Ukraine, the USA and Europe.
