This asymmetrical piece was built from coils of clay that were blended together. The patterning is the result of being fired in a pit with wood, sawdust, salt, copper carbonate, and other organic materials. Each of these materials react to the surface of the clay during the firing process to produce the unique markings.

As with any ceramic art, care must be taken in packing for shipment. This is why I choose to have the artwork professionally packed to insure maximum protection during shipment and the shipping cost may be a bit higher. If you would like to order outside of the US, please let me know and I can arrange it.

I knew at a early age that art was really at my core. It came out in drawing mostly, but as a shy kid, the attention I got from it when I received feedback was what fed me and gave me that much needed confidence that I lacked. I struggled with career decisions when I got to that age where we are all expected to decide and I took countless aptitude tests to figure it out. The results were always the same....do something creative. I went on to get a degree in fine art, but was still hesitant to commit to it as a career choice where I could truly be expressive. For a brief time I did clay work part time and found it inspiring but other things took over and I put it away. My other work experience has included years in woodworking, graphic design, and photography. Living in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina offers endless inspiration to fuel my passions in both clay and photography.
