About The Artwork
I wanted to create Adam and Eve but representing them as black. If there was an Adam and Eve, the only reason they are white is because they were painted by white artists. Since homo sapiens came from Africa, it would be impossible for Adam and Eve to appear white. Similarly, Jesus really should be represented as Middle Eastern and not white as well. The poses are taken from the painter Lucas Cranach the Elder. Lastly, white people used to think that there were two Adam and Eve's created by God because it wouldn't be possible for black people to come from white ancestry. It's amazing these attitudes exist.
