This small fish was inspired by the rare material - Alabaster - an unusual and unique marble. I try to say more by doing less in a better way.
This is a very tactile piece of work, the soft color catches the light and shows the clawed chisel marks on the tail.
Measurements do not include stainless bass - which is 6cm x 6cm.

I express my sculpture through the medium of stone, metal and wood. As a ‘direct carver’ I carve stone without first producing a model, working with materials sourced as close as possible to my location. I live in New Zealand, but was born in Africa, and was named after my Greek uncle, a squadron leader in the RAF. I have sculpted all my life, heavily influenced by the Matebele and Mashona direct sculptors. Aged 17 I moved to London. I studied stonecarving at the City and Guilds of London Art School. My sculpture had been exhibited internationally, from the Cork Street Gallery in London to the International Art Centre in Auckland.
