ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Named after the picturesque Algarve coastline, where the shells were collected, Algarve Tower is a tribute to the natural beauty and rich history of the region. The core structure is crafted from deep red stoneware clay which underwent a cone 6 reduction firing to achieve its rich, earthy base. After the firing, I layered the sculpture with shells, rocks, ceramic elements, and accents of acrylic gold paint. This sculpture celebrates the raw beauty of natural materials and the intricate patterns found in the coastal landscape. By combining traditional ceramic techniques with mixed media elements, Algarve Tower reflects how nature and human creativity come together, highlighting the lasting influence of the natural world on art.
