Anna Akhmatova Sculpture

Anna Akhmatova is one of the most significant Russian poets of the 20th century. Anna Akhmatova wrote: “I taught women to speak ...” - and in these lines, there is said a lot . This poetess, in her strong and bold, very sincere verses, became the voice of Russian women of the 20th century. Her love poems are full of feelings, and no one expressed the feeling of love so boldly, sensually, and openly before her. Her poems about the difficult fate of the Russian people, the persecution, and the Stalinist repressions that affected her family and many other families in Russia are the voices of all Russian people, merged. Her work was condemned and censored by Stalinist authorities, and she is notable for choosing not to emigrate and remaining in the Soviet Union, acting as a witness to the events around her. Akhmatova wrote of her temptation to leave: A voice came to me. It called out comfortingly. It said, "Come here, Leave your deaf and sinful land, Leave Russia forever, I will wash the blood from your hands, Root out the black shame from your heart, [...] calmly and indifferently, I covered my ears with my hands, So that my sorrowing spirit Would not be stained by those shameful words. In my work, I wanted to reflect Akhmatova's femininity and beauty, and at the same time, her extraordinary strength and fortitude. I use light burning clay and make using slab and coil building techniques. The work is then fired in an electric kiln twice, the second time at a temperature of about 1080c. The work is decorated with engobe and glaze. This work is hand-built and totally unique. The work is suitable for interior locations. Work will be sent in a wooden box, carefully packed.
