About The Artwork

I envisaged an exhibition opening, where the viewers entered the gallery and there was the artwork looking at them as they entered. This was the start of the 64 figures which were first shown at the Fox Galleries, Brisbane, in 2005. They were later exhibited in the theatre foyers of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Brisbane, for over four years, after which they were individually donated to various schools and art lovers. Some were returned to the recycyling bin ... Ashes to ashes ... bin to bin. .. In this image "Audience" is on display for the teachers of some of the 50,000 pupils who attended the 5 day "Out of the Box" children's festival at QPAC. ... Material ... waste cardboard ....
