ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A personal insight into the process of making my art. Long hours, perseveration and much experimentation lead to small and occasionally large breakthroughs (bubble burst) into the ideas and processes of my work! This piece is a tribute to that process!

Peter McFarlane is an award winning artist, based on Salt Spring Island, whose work is in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Over his career he has worked in a wide variety of mediums particularly in the re-purposing of used objects. What connects all of his work is the re-contextualizing of obsolete everyday objects to create personal philosophies which he hopes will resonate with the viewer on a visceral and/or intellectual level and open up the possibility of a new conceptual experience. He believes waste is just a lack of imagination. He relies on long hours, landfill, personal experience, history, metal recycling and serendipity to make his art. Nationality is Canadian
