Back to '95 -found objects, acrylic dispersion, lacquer Every month or so by the big tower block in my area, the fly posted images that have been up on the wall get stripped off by the council, and then are just left to blow about the streets. Artist Statement --- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Alex Harding is an artist living, working and studying in London. He is studying Ba Fine art Painting at Wimbledon college of Art. "My recent work takes the form of mediation between online and physical space. Exploring a relationship between found objects, screen grabs from my phone, and appropriated and personal imagery. The work appears at once heterogeneous and then not in terms of the physical and material aspect, alluding that any boundary between image and object, print and screen and for that matter audio and visual is only presented when viewed against each other. There is a tension between the proposals of coherence between the works, a suggestion of obscuring, either by pasting over, leaning against or layering a screen over a screen; to an extent this work is about re-presentation, re investing ways of looking into new avenues. Creation through re creation. Taking the sensibilities of a painting practice, and the knowledge it produces applying that aesthetic to everyday interactions and occurrences. The hand, either present as an emoji or as a pixelated, even implied through the re mixing of a video or the touch of an image fixed to a surface, or the history and traces of an object, reoccurs, grounding the work in a physical space.
