My deep, abiding love for all of the dogs who have been a big part of my life inspired me to create a sculpture that expresses their importance in the lives of all dog lovers. Recent research indicates that people tend to love their dogs more than people, and for good reason. Dogs have been our best friends for about 15,000 years. Loving, loyal and forgiving, unconditionally. Their intuition and intelligence has allowed their use for therapy, law enforcement and guiding the blind (not to mention herding). A world without dogs is only half a world.
This particular piece of soapstone offered rich, deep greens which enhance the natural warmth of the subject.

Ingrid has spent most of her life in Toronto, Canada. She was moved to create art from a very young age, drawing wildlife and developing an appreciation for nature. Apart from some training in a commercial art program, Ingrid is largely self-taught in fine arts. She honed her skills through courses and workshops at Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Haliburton School of Art, and The Art Gallery of Ontario and as a member of the Willowdale Group of Artists. With a keen eye for texture and relief, together with a need to experiment and push the boundaries with acrylic and a multitude of mediums, Ingrid has created art that speaks to a variety of social/political issues. Some recent comments about her art include adjectives like; beautiful, powerful, strange, and dramatic...strangely compelling to look at. “Ingrid, this has captured how I've been feeling the last two days. Deeply profound.” Her favorite artists include: Van Gough; Daly; Matisse; Vladimir Kush.
