About The Artwork
The sculptures from the "Bildstein" series all follow the same question: How can one penetrate the interior of the stone and make it accessible to the viewer without depriving him of his soul? The artist achieves this goal by making deep incisions on both sides that allow views through, and by dividing the stone into different sectors. These are then either polished or left natural, creating exciting contrasts. This results in sculptures that have two different sides that define each other.
