Inspired by Cherry blossom, the full bloom and falling pink snow that is a magical moment. I have tried to capture that feeling by creating shades of quiet sublime colours of pink using my own home grown roots of madder plant. It takes 3 years for the plant to mature and harvest its roots to make the colours.I love the process and make dye as well as pigments. Madder is a ancient colour. I use Japanese Paper, Shibori and when the process is finished I then fixed to basswood that gives the wall sculpture strength and finish with 22ct moon gold leaf. All mounted on conservation board and framed in a recycled acrylic box frame. I hope you will feel the beauty and sublime experience of the blooming falling with grace.

Exhibiting international and national award winning artist who practice also includes commission for commercial as well as private collectors. Creative artist making meaningful inspiriting poetic art to cherish.Indigo because it colours everything, all emotion, our fragile planet, our universe. Madder is the colour of open flesh, wounds and healing, love and heartbreak" Indigo, 6000 years of historical importance that continues to inspires me. I make my own non-toxic fermentation indigo vats using century old recipe, plant dyes and pigments from the Earth on washi, wool, silk, this contrasted with industrial materials- cast iron, steel, concrete, engages me in a dialogue that creates a deeper connectedness to being. The tension of light, ephemeral and heavy dark industry produces a emotional experience. I find the dust and grime ingrained surfaces, when the edges worn with layers of time, muted colours greyed into man made materials. The experience of being in a rivers current and looking up through the heavy deep grey black blue sky to a ray light reflecting back.
