About The Artwork
The sculpture was inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s woodblock print called ‘The dream of the Fisherman’s Wife’. My aim with this sculpture was to highlight an out of body transcending state, somewhere between heaven and earth, death and life, pleasure and pain, it is a dream like state where I often seek refuge and inspiration. I use the traditional materials like blue cobalt and the brilliant white porcelain as used in China and Japan for hundreds of years.
