About The Artwork

These people are exuberantly travelling along on their very responsive bouncing O's. The nature of the O’s is somewhere between that of a space-hopper and the blobs inside a lava-lamp, and so riding them feels very much like being carried along in the weightlessness of viscus liquid. In this medium it is possible to bounce to great heights and be held without fear of calamity, and then drop down again to prime the spring for further action. This allows for limitless expression. This is a series of four sculptures that are available either together or separately. They are made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, so that the figures are creamy in colour, reflecting the wax that they were originally made in, and the O's are a vibrant translucent blue. The translucent material allows for interesting glimpses through to the armature, or internal structure of the sculpture. They are 55cm long all together, 36cm tall, and 11cm wide, and for sale as a limited edition of 24. They are mounted on individual semi-translucent, almost black, flat acrylic bases. See my further listings to buy them individually, and please feel free to message me with any questions. These characters offer an intriguing and humorous take on the many different ways that we try to keep on top of life as it undulates beneath us.

I make sculpture of people, animals and unusual creatures, which I use as metaphors to tell an internal narrative. I work with great consideration, integrity and humour, and I communicate through direct visual impact and shared emotive response. I aim to create sculpture that is exciting and moving, and which speaks to an audience who is interested in engaging with areas of deeper significance within our lives. The original sculpture is modelled in wax and then cast as a limited edition into a vibrant British-made eco-resin, which creates an aesthetic that keeps the beautiful translucent qualities of the wax, while remaining accessible to a wide audience.
