ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My admiration for Bridges comes from different sources. Mainly because I studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Banja Luka and saw many beautiful bridges on my trips, but also from the fact that I grew up in the Balkans where bridges have to do with our history, crossing country borders, and communication on different levels. It’s impossible to not be inspired by the words of our Nobel prize winner in literature, Ivo Andric, who wrote: “Of all the things created and built by humankind as a part of life’s effort, nothing in my mind is better or worthier than bridges. They are more important than houses, more sacred, and more universal than temples. They belong to all and treat all alike; they are useful, always built for a purpose, at a spot where most human needs entwine; they are more durable than other buildings and serve no secret or evil purpose.” The artwork Bridges was made of 4 canvases pressed on the plywood and connected with the pieces of frames. The acrylic colors used are deep blue, silver, and gold. The artwork is signed on the back and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
