About The Artwork

José Miguel was born in Granada on August 15th, 1979, into a nature-loving family. Influenced by the work of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, he joined nature observation groups, where he discovered his special passion for birds of prey. He put his dreams of studying biology aside, instead opting for a degree with broader career prospects – IT. He worked in this field for years, however he always maintained an underlying love of art. This drove him to enroll at the Granada School of Art, while kept on working. After two years of artistic studies, during which he learned a lot about different sculptural techniques, he won first prize at the Robles Pozo Foundation competition with his final exhibition piece “Chrysaetos”. This encouraged him to continue his artistic studies at Granada University of Fine Arts. After finishing his degree, for professional reasons, art was put on hold. It wasn’t until many years later that his family would publish some of the pieces that José Miguel had done during his university period on social media. Seeing the interest that his work aroused, both nationally and internationally, was a turning point for the artist and he decided to embark on the adventure of making his two passions (sculpture and fauna) his way of life.
