Carmen Sculpture

"Carmen" was the second piece I had made to about seven feet tall. While creating this piece, it was all about the process and staying in the present moment. There was no real sketched out plan. Mixing and applying plaster, bit by bit, is as simple as this story gets. Once the piece was completed, I was challenged once again to name the piece. I often would call my sister-in-law to name my work. At the time she was doing "Carmen" at the NCY Opera House, as she is a mezzo soprano opera singer. She fell in love with the piece and insisted I name it "Carmen"! Since then, "Carmen" has been on approval in many homes, but no client has yet to make the commitment. It is a beautiful and elegant piece. The viewers eye catches my process like a Sunday drive. Seamless and effortlessly, this sculpture stands alone, and has a presence all it's own.
