About The Artwork

Theme: Broken Hearts Can Heal Inspiration: The choices we make with regard to our outlook on life and attitude toward others, can be the most important decisions of our lives. We all experience heartache, disappointment and trauma. With those experiences we have choices in moving forward into the future. We can let those experiences define us in a negative way and therefore bring more negativity into the world in the forms of Fear, Hate, and Hopelessness. We can also let unfortunate experiences define us through growth and strength. We can redefine ourselves through these lessons and bring into the world, Joy, Love and Hope. On the back of this beautiful specimen of translucent Utah Orange Alabaster is a huge scar from when it was abruptly blasted out of it's natural canyon home. The thread of white seen on the front was carved into the stone as a continuation of the scar. While the stone was scared beyond belief the inspiration from the scar and the trauma grew into the beautifully polished heart shape and etched vine reaching toward a brighter future. Kat

Creating art as a kid = Yep College Degree in Fine Art = Yep Become an artist = hmmm, sort of, hmmm, not yet, hmmm Turn 50 years old = Yep, Let's Do Art!!!! Turn 60 years old - Yep, Why stop now? It took 50 years for me to be in a place secure enough to create art. After a small bout of homelessness in my 20's, I focused on an income in the corporate world. Then the corporate world, unceremoniously, spit me out in 2008. I turned my love of dance into my next career. So much joy came from this, I then turned my attention to art. I have been creating and showing sculpture ever since. Each day I dance and create art is filled with joy! Each day I share what I know with others about dance and art is filled with even more joy. My motto... Wake Up, Be Awesome, Be Kind, Bring Joy, Repeat
