About The Artwork

cocoon A society that only believes in miracles that cannot come true without action is heading for a dystopian future, because waiting and just hoping is not enough. Against the background of what is possible and the support available, wishes must be changed in such a way that the unimaginable can come true and real miracles can emerge from utopia. The golden egg, tucked away in a cocoon and yet already setting off, striving for a new future, is both a metaphor for these opportunities and a symbol of departure.

ABOUT YOLY MAURER AND HER ART

YOLY has developed a new approach to the relationship between artist, artwork and observer - the "InProgress" approach. She uses the work of art as a storage media of interaction between artist and observers. YOLY produces an artwork on a topic, then in the context of an event she invites the public to start a discourse with her using a brush and paint and to paint over the artwork. Then in a further phase she makes a work of art based on her own impressions and feelings and in response to the "painted statements" of the public, by over painting and / or bringing out previous layers again: a permanent process of disposition - discussion - revision - exposition - disposition ...

Also in her scooped pictures, YOLYs paper work, the dialogue is program for her work. She scoops from the past and from the present artifacts like driftwood from the river of time and weaves a new message, synthesis and mirror at the same time. Those scooped pictures are YOLYs confrontation to the observer.
Like a starting point and target together, she chooses programmatic titles for individual cycles. This title guides or kidnaps the observer for a journey into YOLYs world and shows also with that kind of artwork the dualism of synthesis and mirror image.

A dialogue with a wink is the art project "ARTSPAM HOLY YOLY".
SPAM = SPICED HAM was known by the SPAM sketch by the British comedy series Monty Pythons Flying Circus. This gave a new meaning the word SPAM = massive flood with their own messages and from which you want to protect yourself. Contrary to that YOLY uses her new concept of art ARTSPAM HOLY YOLY as another way of dialogue. Those spams flood people, distract people from their own thoughts, fill up their heads with new thoughts, come always unannounced, but could get important for survival like the SPAM - the spiced ham, if you enjoy them day by day.

ARTICLES ABOUT YOLY MAURER

DAS MAHL

Reconciliation as a basic principle for a peaceful coexistence - this complex of work created by Yoly Maurer is impacted deeply by the intensive debate on the basic principles of human life. Today peace, reconciliation, cooperation, comprehension of one another and the willingness to understand is as important as ever before, and is the basis of a liveable future for the entire mankind. The metaphor "DAS MAHL", which Yoly has chosen, is truly complex.
