About The Artwork

Researchers in many fields are recognizing that the systems they study often exhibit a type of time evolution known as chaos. Its hallmark is wild, unpredictable behavior, a state often unwelcome to those who encounter it. Recently scientists have realized that chaos can actually be advantageous in many situations and that when it is unavoidably present, it can often be controlled to obtain desired results. Ceramic art sculpture is a type of artwork that has been around for thousands of years. It's made by creating clay sculptures and then firing them in a kiln to harden the clay so it can become durable. When working with ceramics, the artist also has to deal with the unpredictability and capriciousness of the material. A ceramic artist must rely on his skills, knowledge and experience in order to achieve the desired result, so that, finally, by opening the cooled kiln, the artist can get a still warm sculpture out of it. In this Sculpture “Controlling Chaos” I mixed clay with other material, such as metal wire, before being fired.

Contemporary Austrian artist of Russian origin, Elena Vostryakova works with themes such as beauty, femininity, movement, the environment and the power of nature. She embodies her ideas through painting, collages of old painted paper and found objects, clay sculptures. As the daughter of an artist but self-taught, she seeks spontaneous, intuitive work, free from the intrusion of criticism and control. Her works are characterized by expressive lines and shapes, influenced by different cultures, and the combination of figurative and abstract elements. Elena always pays homage to her muse, Creative Wise Nature, by mixing shapes and materials and finding new uses for them. Her greatest achievements in art have come from a source of intuition and self-education, guided by inspirations from the natural world.
