As an artist, I find myself drawn to the raw and organic nature of driftwood. There's something magical about the way natural processes have shaped each piece over time, carving unique designs and imbuing them with a distinct essence. My goal as an artist is to reveal and enhance this inherent beauty in each piece of driftwood that I work with. Having immigrated to Christchurch NZ from Macedonia in 1996, I've made this beautiful city my home. My passion for art was ignited during my high school years, where I spent countless hours honing my skills with oil on canvas under the guidance of my art teacher. I also had the privilege of participating in several group exhibitions in Macedonia, which further fuelled my passion for the arts. Living near the beach and taking daily walks with my furry companion, I stumbled upon a treasure trove of driftwood. I felt an instant connection with these pieces and knew I had to incorporate them into my art. Through careful cleansing and preparation, I bring out the natural beauty of each piece of driftwood, occasionally adding in other materials such as metal, stone, and glass to further enhance their unique characteristics. My art is a celebration of the beauty that exists all around us, waiting to be discovered and revealed. It's a tribute to the transformative power of nature and the limitless possibilities of the creative spirit.
