When I grew up in Hong Kong, I was raised to make money as my top priority. Hong Kong movies alway showed us with a desire to win the Mark Six lottery, counting banknotes in a bank vault, and a rich man being kidnapped for 10 million... There are countless other scenes. The works in the cash series began with the installation work No Money No Talk treasury exhibited at Para Site in 2023. It is named after the song No Money No Talk by Hong Kong 90s singer Sam Hui and represents the values of the grassroots class in Hong Kong at that time. I wanted to recreate the scene of making counterfeit banknotes, so I hid a banknote making workshop in the vault to make banknotes using silk screen printing and ironing methods. The original shape of the banknote came from the one thousand dollar banknote issued before the handover of Hong Kong because it contained colonial elements. A royal sign of the times. I embroidered the image of the banknote, and then made the embroidered pattern into a silk screen for printing. I added polka dot patterns to the printing to create my own style of banknote. Counterfeit banknotes often appeared in the 1990s, and one thousand dollar banknotes were often banned. I couldn't find it in the city, so I imagined the size, a little larger than the real size. It will only be printed in the exhibition hall during the exhibition and will not be printed again. We printed a total of 1,200 copies. The cash is in a stack of ten, in a stack of twenty, and in each stack of two hundred. The names are in order No.201-400, no. 401-600, no. 601-800, no. 801-1000. (No.1-200 and 1001-1200 have already sold)
