ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This series of wood sculptures aimed to convey the feeling of joy and positivity through abstract art forms. It was also to indicate the truth of the material which simultaneously represents the simplicity along with the beauty found in the quality of wood. Coming from an experienced art student with a sculpture background during my time at the university, experimenting with various materials, there came a conclusion that wood fit perfectly for my skills and knowledge. It was my intention to preserve the environment as much as possible in order to create art, hence I collected discarded wood from different local locations and turned it into artwork for its best potential. Art forms depicted onto the artworks came from my perspective in viewing my surroundings and everyday objects. ‘ By the nature of a human; a unique trace of human being is usually seen depending on culture and geography. Overall, humans have always been neutral and live a moderate life along the basic standards of society which is not against their nature. In this set of sculptures has been constructed by using the organic material and my carving technique. The combination of my skill and the material has created the simplest abstract forms. In each sculpture has been carved and constructed with different types of wood to extend the characteristic of the material: color and pattern as I intend to simply convey the meaning of inner self and soul through my sculptures.’
