Art Description

Sculpture: Wood, Enamel on Plastic, Wood, Steel.

Dechamp is a modern rustic wood wall sculpture. It was assembled almost entirely from reclaimed American cherry table and cupboard parts from items that were built in the 1930s. It is made from cherry, mahogany, walnut, pine, ebony and purple heart woods along with vintage steel metal parts, modern recycled plastic and azek decking. Like most of my pieces Dechamp explores the notions of used and new, young and old and the combination of organic and man made materials. From a table leg to plastic shutter pieces to metal brackets, this piece has materials that span nearly 100 years. The name "Dechamp" comes from my nod in this piece to Marcel Duchamp and his famous "Nude Descending the Staircase No. 2" which inspires me on a daily basis. "Dechamp" is a modern rustic piece that creates an interesting focal point in any room.
