ABOUT THE ARTWORK
DISCOVERED is one of a series of hand carved sculptures using Ancaster Weatherbed. This stone is a very hard Jurassic limestone used by both Hepworth and Moore. They are inspired by the nature of the stone itself and the search for the block with the unusual blue swirls that form part of its make up and choosing these blocks to carve to make the shell and fossil created material live again.
