ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This most influential novel written in the 17th century has been interpreted in a number of different ways. Whatever the interpretations are, in the beginning, Don Quixote does not see the world for what it is and prefers to imagine that he is living out a knightly story - this maybe reflects the feelings of many of us in these difficult times. This is a limited edition of 15. Because this sculpture would have to be ordered from the foundry there is an approximate 10 week waiting period.

I work mainly in the media of printmaking and sculpture. When making prints my preference is for hard ground etchings, drypoint or relief prints. Sculpturally I work with bronze, glass and various metals, often combining them in a single artwork. I was formerly a Mathematics lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand for thirty years. Drawing on my expertise in mathematics, I helped to create a popular interest and involvement in mathematics by elucidating the nexus between mathematics and traditional African craft objects, and has been involved in the production of numerous articles, books, TV documentaries, videos and DVDs relating to that topic. I was the mathematician involved in the development of the series Africa meets Africa ().
