About The Artwork

Earth, air, fire and water; the resources of the smith. Engraved steel sawblade of blacksmith in the forge. This wall piece depicts the smith in his shop with the elements and mystical qualities of the process and the forge. 36” diameter Designed to be hung with three low profile bolts fastened in the space between teeth and threaded into anchors in the wall. This wall piece is currently part of our Pratt Museum exhibition which runs through October 1, 2016. Please allow 3-4 weeks for creation of another copy. I'm an artist and sculptor in Homer, Alaska. For the last 40 years, I've created significant focal point artwork specially designed to enhance the character my clients envision for their homes, businesses, or public places. I make both decorative and functional sculpture, furniture, and wall art. From my first bronze portrait to my latest Percent for the Arts Commission, I've completed more than 90 commissions. With the ability to work in a wide range of materials, styles, and techniques, I make pieces that become integral to the essence of their setting. These pieces can be either custom designed or selected from my currently available artwork or designs. With visual effects impossible to achieve using other materials, heat colored steel engraving brings a broad range of moods to a single work of art. Because heat colors patina the steel without obscuring its unique metallic qualities, each piece has a dynamic character and depth that changes with the light and viewing angle. You can get a feel for this dynamic quality in this video: With each commission, I intend to bring about a creative synergy between your aesthetic vision and my artistic sensibility, thus creating something new that neither of us may have imagined on our own. I'm confident I can make works of art that stand the test of time, and are the source of conversation and enjoyment for generations to come. I appreciate having the opportunity to introduce my art to you through Saatchi Art. You'll find a range of original focal point metal and wood wall art, limited edition bronzes, wood sculptures. Many of my engravings are made in small editions of 7. Some are currently available and ready to ship, others are available by special order and I can make them in the perfect size for the space you are decorating. I've also made brightly colored metal photo prints of my engravings available for people who don't have space or budget for my originals. Some of the bronzes are made by my wife Ranja. She grew up with all sorts of animals and has a great aptitude for conveying their essence in her work. Here are a few things my past clients have to say about my work and working with me. • Denali Table "My family and I have enjoyed the beautiful creativity of Jeff Dean's artistic production in our home for nearly 20 years.
