Sculpture: Bronze on Bronze.
This piece is part of a 4 part series of abstract bronze sculptures. I like to utilize the classic beauty of bronze to express my work. The concept of the series was to capture human emotion through the dynamic interaction of the two figures in the sculpture. This concept actually happened by accident while I was working on a large wall hanging piece with real masonry cut nails. I bent and twisted a few nails for the piece, and two of the nails unintentionally became intertwined as I picked one of them up. At that moment I saw an intimate relationship between two nails, as they clutched and hung on to each other, and realized that I need to expand on the idea and create a series based upon the concept. The series captures sophisticated movement, while depicting the passionate interactions that we experience in life. While this work is known as contemporary abstract, the representation of human emotion is clearly on display.
